Five found dead at a Polk County home in apparent shooting
At least five people were found dead inside a Texas home on Monday and investigators said they’re “not looking for a suspect.”
The bodies of a husband and wife, their daughter-in-law and a 1-year-old great-grandchild, and one other person, were discovered at a home in Polk County, the sheriff’s office said during a news conference. Three of those bodies were found outside the house, while two were found inside.
“This is a horrible, horrific scene,” Chief Deputy Byron Lyons told reporters. “A horrible, horrific crime.”
The sheriff’s deputy added that “some firearms” were recovered from the home. Lyons said no 911 calls have been made from the home, aside from a theft a few years ago, and said that when investigators arrived at the home on Monday, it was “not a hostile situation.”
Earlier Monday, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office wrote online that they received a call for assistance around 10:30 a.m. “for multiple victims of an assault” at the home.
When authorities arrived on the scene, they discovered victims with “apparent gunshot wounds.”
