Toddler found wandering in road alone in southwest Houston

A 2-year-old boy was found on Ranchester Drive near Bellaire Boulevard early Thursday morning.

Authorities say Eden Baltazar was found wandering in the middle of the street around 4:30 a.m. He was found by good Samaritans who called police.

A man says he saw Eden running from the sidewalk to the street. Felipe parked his car and rushed out to help.

“I asked him ‘Where’s your mom? Where’s your father?’ He just asked for his mom,” said Felipe.

The officers let Eden play with the sirens in their patrol vehicles as they waited for family to come forward.

Police say it doesn’t appear Eden can talk, but he did keep saying the word “mom.”

Eden’s mother came forward to claim her son around 7 a.m. She says she was asleep when her son left their nearby apartment.

A family member says they had just changed the apartment locks on Wednesday. Eden’s father thought he locked the door as he left for work, but didn’t.

Eden and his mother have been reunited.
