There is hope in Sonora with Captain Andrés Cano
It all seems that with the newly appointed public safety director, Captain Andrés Humberto Cano Ahuir, the city of Guaymas has seen a decrease in the state’s rampant violence.
Although crime is still relatively high in the state of Sonora, since Captain Andres Cano was appointed in August we have seen an increased amount of captured criminals and Cartel members, which is one of Sonora’s main concerns since the state has been a key location for Cartels, leading to deadly Cartel wars.
It is no secret that there is a long way to go, since the whole country is perceived as dangerous by the U.S. Department of State, especially northern states such as Sonora, but since the change in government we have seen a “revolution” in terms of crime-fighting strategy which has led to a huge decrease in drug trade and human trafficking.
These are still the early days of Captain Andres Cano’s term, so it really is promising to see the way the Captain is already taming problems, acting immediately to stem violence and safeguarding human rights, making Guaymas a leading example for the rest of the country in the ongoing combat against crime.
