Lady Gaga ordered to appear in court in Dr Luke legal action v Kesha

Lady Gaga has found herself at the centre of the ongoing legal dispute between Kesha and her former producer Dr Luke.

The producer – whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald – has accused the singer of defamation over her claims she was sexually assaulted by him.

A statement, released by his lawyer over the weekend said, Gaga was being sent a subpoena because she has information regarding “false statements about Dr. Luke (pictured below) made to her by Kesha”.

It added the subpoena was “necessary because Dr. Luke’s counsel has not been able to obtain, despite repeated request, a deposition date from Lady Gaga.”

In a statement of her own, lawyers for Lady Gaga – who has been a vocal supporter of Kesha – told Variety, “she has provided all of the relevant information in her possession”.

“Dr. Luke’s team is attempting to manipulate the truth and draw press attention to their case by exaggerating Lady Gaga’s role and falsely accusing her of dodging reasonable requests.”

According to a report in TMZ, Gaga did submit a written statement, but redacted too much of the content to prove useful and could now be required to attend a three hour sit down interview.

For several years, Kesha has tried to get out of a record deal with Dr Luke, claiming he sexually assaulted her, which he has always denied.

The singer – who is still signed to Sony – releases her third studio album Rainbow, her first in five years, on 11 August.
