Why Supermodel Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber is fashion’s newest ‘it’ girl

KENDALL. Gigi. Bella. And now, meet Kaia Gerber.

The teen daughter of ’90s supermodel Cindy Crawford has already modelled for Versace and Alexander Wang, and is being touted as a new ‘it’ girl-in-the-making.

She’s the face of Marc Jacobs’ Daisy perfume, appeared with her mother on the cover of French Vogue last year, and now, has her own magazine cover (she’s on the front of the latest Teen Vogue).

At 15, she’s already a rising (and influential) force in fashion and even has a thing for an Australian label.

Kaia Gerber wore a top by Australian label Realisation Par in Los Angeles.

Kaia has been photographed wearing Realisation Par a lot lately, and was snapped in the brand’s signature printed dresses and tops around Los Angeles (she lives in Malibu with her parents and brother, Presley Gerber, who is also a model duh).

But Kaia — who has been endorsed by the social media generation’s ultimate ‘it’ girl, Kendall Jenner — is keeping it real.

Sure, she has 1.5 million followers on Instagram and is backed by mega agency IMG but she isn’t buying into social media pressure.

With Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang campaigns under her belt, Kaia Gerber is fast making a name for herself in fashion.

“Everyone expects you to be on it all the time, but social media is just everyone’s best version of themselves,” Gerber said in an interview with Teen Vogue.

“I try and give people a truer depiction of who I am.”

Her father is former model turned entrepreneur Rande Gerber, who co-founded Casamigos Tequila with George Clooney (they recently sold it for more than $700 million).

So what has she learnt from her parents?

Kaia said they “have always taught me to be myself and to follow my instincts,” according to teenvogue.com.

“They also say that you should never let what other people do affect what you want to do.

“It changes everything when you accept who you are and you don’t try to change yourself.”

In the era of reality TV and Instagram fame, Kaia wants to be a “good role model for young girls”.

“I now reach so many people, and it’s hard for them to know what is real. I don’t take any platform I have lightly,” she told Teen Vogue.

“It’s so important to send a good message.”
