Check out Houston freeway conditions post-Harvey

Sun light is breaking over Houston for the first time during the morning hours since Harvey’s deluge.

While the conditions improve atmospherically, the same might not apply for all freeways around the area.

There are freeways in and out of Houston that are accessible:
Interstate 10 is passable to and from San Antonio
US-290 is open
Outbound Interstate 45 North to and from Dallas is accessible

Officials, though, urge caution when taking southbound Interstate 45, mainly near Cypresswood, due to water in the lanes. They also urge highways to be as clear as possible to allow emergency vehicles to come in. Feeder roads in the area of Cypresswood have problems.

I-10 Katy Freeway is driveable but still have water on lanes, mainly the outer ones. Feeder road lanes are also covered in water. You are urged to take some time while traveling on this freeway.

I-10 heading in and out of Beaumont is closed due to high water levels covering both lanes as extreme southeast Texas is battered by Harvey’s second landfall.

State Highway 225 at Richey in and out of Pasadena remains covered in water and not passable.

Delays have been seen on the West Sam Houston Tollway near Buffalo Bayou due to its rising water levels.

Periodic closures are in effect for State Highway 288/South Freeway. You are urged to take precaution over this area.

You can monitor all freeway accessibility through Texas Department of Transportation’s Drive Texas website.
