Life Flight was called to the campus of Dawson High School in Pearland this morning after a student attempted to commit suicide.
A teacher discovered the student on campus. Emergency personnel were contacted immediately and the student was transported to a hospital via Life Flight. The student’s condition is not publicly known.
A statement from Pearland ISD read in part, “All students are safe and Dawson HS is having a regular school day.”
There are a number of resources available, including the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. It’s available 24 hours a day at 1-800-273-8255 to provide free and confidential support and counseling for people in distress. Pearland ISD has created a local suicide prevention task force as well.
