Johnny Spires has been appointed police chief for the city of Pearland after being in the force for over 27 years.
A longtime member of the city’s staff, Spires has served as a police officer, sergeant, lieutenant and assistant chief. He stepped into his new role June 1, upon the retirement of Chief J. C. Doyle.
As chief, Spires will be responsible for the department’s $25.5 million budget, 17 divisions and more than 200 city employees.
