A boy was shot in the neck Tuesday evening, setting off a chain of events that included shots fired at officers chasing the people accused of wounding the victim.

The Houston Police Department said its investigation into the shooting and pursuit spanned multiple scenes in the northwest sides of the city and Harris County.

According to police, it all began with a juvenile male being shot in the 8500 block of Pitner Road at 6:20 p.m. Officers responded to the victim, who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

One of the officers then radioed information about a maroon minivan that may have been involved in the shooting.

About three minutes later, officers located the vehicle in the area of Hempstead and Campbell, where the driver refused to pull over for a traffic stop.

A pursuit began, and at some point, the suspects in the minivan opened fire multiple times at patrol vehicles. None of the officers shot back or were hurt, but three patrol vehicles were hit.

The chase ended in the 7600 block of Ameswood, where four suspects took off on foot. Police said they located and arrested all of them within an hour.

HPD got assistance from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Precinct 5 Constable’s Office, who helped set up a perimeter.

The suspects were described as men aged 17 to 20 years old.

HPD commanders and PIO are en route to a scene in the 7600 block of Ameswood Road.
Preliminary info is shots were fired by suspects during a pursuit. No officers were injured. Three suspects in custody and one at large.

More info will come from the scene. #hounews pic.twitter.com/SFeodBuNXA
