Houston is pulling out of the deep freeze. Meteorologist Travis Herzog says this was our last morning with a widespread freeze from the arctic outbreak.
A cloudy weather system will spread over Houston this afternoon, and Travis says the canopy of clouds tonight should keep most of us above freezing.
Even warmer weather is coming this weekend. Saturday’s highs will peak in the 60s, then a warm front will push highs above 70 on Sunday. Thick sea fog could pose a problem for travelers Sunday morning as the warm, moist air blows over the cold shelf waters of the Gulf. A few showers are possible Sunday as another cold front arrives in the evening.
Travis says temperatures behind our next front won’t be anywhere near as cold as this arctic outbreak, and freezing temperatures are not expected next week.
