Fallout from Hurricane Harvey continues to be felt throughout Houston. It’s just been announced that the Wortham Theater Center will remain closed for repairs until at least mid-May 2018.
On August 27, 12 feet of water filled the basement of the Wortham, filling the tunnel connecting the theater to the parking garage.
Officials say it doesn’t appear the building suffered any structural damage, but the air handling units and elevators have been impacted.
Restoration work continues at the theater. Officials are targeting a reopening date of May 15, 2018 in what they call a ‘best-case scenario.’
