NFL roster-cut tracker 2017: Which players have been released?

The deadline for teams to cut their active rosters to 53 players is Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, with this year’s format adding a twist.

In past years, teams had two deadlines for cuts: one to 75, and another to 53. But this year teams were allowed to hold onto 90 players through the preseason finale.

Brock Osweiler, QB, Cleveland Browns: Hue Jackson and Co. will have to eat the $16 million guaranteed Osweiler was owed for 2017. But the team picked up a second-round pick for doing so, even if Osweiler ended up as an extraneous piece once DeShone Kizer won the starting role.

Victor Cruz, WR, Chicago Bears: With Kendall Wright likely claiming a job in the slot, Cruz became expendable in Chicago.

Chris Johnson, RB, Arizona Cardinals: The former 2,000-yard rusher is set to turn 32 next month. Kerwynn Williams should serve as David Johnson’s backup.

Matt Barkley, QB, San Francisco 49ers: Barkley was signed this offseason to be a potential backup to starter Brian Hoyer. That gig now goes to C.J. Beathard, a third-round rookie out of Iowa.

T.J. Clemmings, OT, Minnesota Vikings: Clemmings struggled last season after being forced into action at left tackle. He started 30 games in the last two seasons but no linger fit in the team’s plans after Minnesota brought in Riley Reiff and Mike Remmers at tackle.

Will Blackmon, S, Washington Redskins: Blackmon started six games for the Redskins last year. The team signed D.J. Swearinger in the offseason and moved Su’a Cravens to safety full-time.
