10 Tips on menopause

Menopause is not a disease, it is one more stage in a woman’s life that must be faced with a positive attitude. Your symptoms can be alleviated by following the healthy lifestyle habits that we share below.

Ten lifestyle tips:

  1. Maintain a balanced diet rich in calcium, avoiding overweight and obesity.
  2. Perform moderate daily physical activity to achieve cardiovascular benefits, and help maintain muscle strength, bone mineral density and prevent falls.
  3. Avoid toxic habits such as smoking and ingesting excessive amounts of alcohol and caffeine.
  4. Sunbathe 15 minutes a day to get the right vitamin D level. This vitamin is crucial in many biological processes, such as the absorption of calcium and, therefore, the strengthening of bones.
  5. Evaluate the possible cardiovascular risk and eliminate the risk factors. The main cause of mortality after menopause is cardiovascular disease.
  6. Evaluate the possible risk of breast cancer and stimulate early diagnosis through mammography campaigns. Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in Spanish women.
  7. Assess the possible risk of osteoporosis and in high-risk women measure bone mineral density. Osteoporosis is one of the most devastating diseases associated with menopause and aging. Risk factors: having a first degree relative with the disease, having had fractures, a body mass index under 20, obesity, smoking or having received corticosteroid treatments.
  8. Live menopause with vitality and optimism. It is another stage in the life of the woman that should not miss this opportunity to be filled with vitality and experience.
  9. Maintain satisfactory sexual activity. A satisfactory sex life and a good relationship with the couple is an important support factor during menopause. In addition, sexual activity helps to avoid vaginal dryness and atrophy.
  10. Caring for the quality of life to achieve the well-being of women during menopause.
