The search is on for the man who fired shots at a restaurant, nearly hitting police officers who were outside.
The Houston Police Department says the man was an angry customer who had damaged property inside the Chacho’s on the South Loop near Buffalo Speedway.
They say that customer drove down the feeder road by Chacho’s and shot toward the restaurant six or seven times.
Several officers who were in front of the building had to duck for cover.
The incident started around 9:30 Sunday night when the customer became angry in the restaurant and started damaging property.
Restaurant staff called 911, but by the time officers arrived, the man was gone.
About 30 minutes later, while police were gathered in the parking lot, the suspect came back and opened fire.
Police said a patrol car was hit by one bullet in the rear, driver’s side tire, but no one was hurt.
“It’s very disheartening when anybody sees a group of police officers anywhere or citizens standing out front of an establishment and just shoots for whatever reason. So whoever the suspect is, a word to him, we’re coming after you,” said HPD Executive Assistant Chief Troy Finner.
Unfortunately, police do not know much about the suspect.
Officers say he is a man between 25 and 30 years old who was driving a white car.
If you have any information you are urged to call HPD.
