Arsenal delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday night in London, cruising to a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa in one of the standout matches of Premier League matchday 19. The win not only underlined their title credentials but also brought an end to Villa’s impressive winning streak.
Mikel Arteta’s side finished the first half of the season firmly at the summit of the table with 45 points, opening a five-point gap over second-placed Manchester City and moving six points clear of Aston Villa, who arrived as one of the league’s most in-form teams.
The first half ended scoreless, with both sides locked in a tense battle. However, Arsenal wasted no time after the restart. Gabriel broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, and just four minutes later Martín Zubimendi doubled the lead, shifting the momentum decisively in favor of the hosts.

Arsenal maintained control as the match progressed. Leandro Trossard made it 3-0 in the 69th minute, before substitute Gabriel Jesus added the fourth goal at 78’, sealing a dominant display. Aston Villa managed a late consolation goal through Ollie Watkins in stoppage time, but the outcome was already decided.
For Villa manager Unai Emery, facing his former club once again, the night ended in frustration. His team saw their run of eight consecutive Premier League wins come to a halt, along with an overall streak of eleven victories across all competitions.
Despite a quiet outing from Viktor Gyökeres, Arsenal’s collective performance reinforced the belief that they are serious contenders to reclaim the English league title — a trophy they have not lifted since 2004.
