BELLA Hadid has revealed she met BFF Kendall Jenner seven years ago online and that she takes 30 pills a day to combat her Lyme disease.
The 20-year-old opened up to InStyle magazine about how she became friends with Jenner, saying that they met on social media.
“I met her for the first time seven years ago over Twitter. That was before we started modelling. I was probably 14 or 15. We met up and had sushi, and now we’re best friends. She’s a pretty significant human I met online,” she said.
The pair, along with Hadid’s big sister, Gigi, and Hailey Baldwin are all good friends and are often called Instagram models because of the way their social media presence attracted offers from modelling agents.
Hadid isn’t a big fan of the label.
“I was 100 per cent independent by the time I was 18, and I paid for my own apartment. That wasn’t because of my parents. I worked my a** off for two years,” she said.
Hadid said her main goal with modelling was to transition into acting.
“At the end of the day, I think working this much is going to give me a better platform to do bigger things in the world,” she said. “People think that I don’t smile and I’m super cold … With acting you can show more of who you are.”
Hadid never had big dreams of becoming a model, unlike sister Gigi, and was on course to be a professional equestrian heading for the Olympics before being sidelined by a bout of Lynme Disease.
Her mum, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Yolanda Hadid, also has Lyme disease, as does her younger brother, Anwar.
She now takes 30 pills a day and two shots to get through the day.
She says it has also curbed her partying.
“When I was 16, 17 I went out and did the whole thing … Now I feel like a grandma. I’ll go out occasionally, but I’d rather go to work and have 100 per cent energy, because I barely have enough to get through the day as it is,” she said.
