Authorities are investigating a car crash after a woman was found dead inside of a white 2010 BMW located in a ditch in west Harris County, just south of Highway 290.
During the investigation, authorities identified the dead woman as 23-year-old Glorielyz Lopez-Lorenzo, they also determined the crash occurred over 24 hours ago and no one reported it.
Deputies told reporters that they received a call about the crash at the 13900 block of State Highway 99 on Friday at 11:34 p.m. When they arrived, they found Lopez-Lorenzo dead at the scene.
It is believed Lopez-Lorenzo was the driver of the BMW. They say she was driving northbound on Highway 99, when she disregarded a stop sign where the service road intersected with Mound Road.
Authorities believe she may have run off the highway, passing the warning barricades, where she jumped a small dirt hill and landed at the bottom of the ditch.
Police say the area of the accident is secluded and it had not been reported until Friday night.
However, the evidence obtained indicates the crash may have occurred Thursday.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, this case is currently under investigation by the vehicular crimes division.
