Five people were killed in a multi-vehicle accident that took place on US-59 Southbound near Victoria this morning.
A van, 18-wheeler and pickup truck were involved in the accident. Everyone but the driver of the 18-wheeler suffered injuries.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the van was looking to get on the ramp when it was clipped by the 18-wheeler. It was then sent over the median into oncoming traffic.
That ultimately led to the van being struck by a Ford-F150.
At least one woman, two men, and two children were killed in the crash, authorities say.
Seven people were transported to hospitals and one was transported by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann.
