Brazoria County officials are allowing people in the mandatory evacuation zones to return to those areas starting at noon.
The county judge released a statement Tuesday morning saying that residents will be allowed back in their homes Tuesday with a proof of residency.
According to the county, people will be allowed to enter and exit the mandatory evacuation areas from sunrise to sunset.
“These areas will only be accessible with passenger vehicles, regular trucks and non-motorized watercraft. No high profile vehicles and no motorized watercraft will be allowed,” according to the county judge.
Early Saturday, people living on Dewberry Street, Dewberry Court and Strawberry Drive were told to leave after a mandatory evacuation was issued in parts of Lake Jackson.
On FM 2004 and Brazos River Road, a house and barn were threatened by rising water in the Brazos River.
The river was just a few hundred yards away. This morning, the house and barn are now taking on water.
