President Trump was left without a luxury hotel to stay at for the annual G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, this week after White House officials waited too long to book a hotel, Buzzfeed reported Thursday.
The U.S. initially sought to accommodate Trump in the local Four Seasons hotel, only to find it was already fully booked by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, the report said. Other luxury hotels around Hamburg were similarly booked up by other key figures.
The G-20 Summit, which was announced in February 2016, requires 9,000 hotel rooms to accommodate world leaders, staffs and security details.
Trump will reportedly stay at Hamburg’s Senate guesthouse for the summit, with the U.S. Consulate General hosting his staff.
The Hotel Reichshof was taken by Vietnam’s delegation, Russian President Vladimir Putin is staying at the Park Hyatt and The Grand Elysée was booked by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni.
