Why does it give us gum pain?

First of all, it is necessary to know that gums are tissues of utmost importance because they provide support and protection to the teeth. Know the reasons that could cause pain in your gums and what is your treatment.

What can affect my gums?

The gums acting as a protective barrier for our teeth can become inflamed or infected by various problems ranging from something simple like the trapped popcorn shell to suffering from some periodontal disease. Other reasons that can cause pain in the gums are:

 Use of toothpicks

The use of wooden sticks to clean the remains of food trapped between the teeth is not advisable, because when they break, they can remain splinters and injure the gums, being susceptible to infection, pain and inflammation.

 Ulcers

Ulcers, also called canker sores, can appear on the lips, cheeks and gums, causing constant pain. These ulcers in the mouth can be easily identified by their oval appearance with a red or white center and they usually heal on their own in 1 or 2 weeks.

 Periodontal abscesses

A periodontal abscess is an infection caused by a decayed tooth that is located in the gum, causing pain when chewing or touching. This type of dental infection requires the specialist’s attention to eliminate all the pus that is inside the gum.

 Periodontal disease

Periodontal disease is the infection of the gums that is characterized by inflammation and redness of the gums.

This disease begins with an initial stage characterized by a mild gum inflammation and bleeding when brushing our teeth called gingivitis.

By not paying attention can evolve to a more advanced stage that presents with severe inflammation of the gums, bad breath or bone loss called periodontitis.

How to identify a diseased gum?

There are some signs that will help you identify it and visit the dentist at the right time to restore your gums to health. The most commons are:

Pain

Bad breath

Swollen gums

Bleeding

Irritated gums

Loose teeth

Tartar

Now you know the signs of diseased gums, go to dentists in Merida. Do not let them cause you bad breath or continue to tolerate the pain for which we have the solution.
