A knife-wielding man killed a 50-year-old woman and stabbed seven other people at a shopping mall in southeastern Poland on Friday, officials said.
A police spokesman said a 27-year-old resident of the town began stabbing people at random inside the VIVO shopping mall in the town of Stalowa Wola.
The motive for the attack was not immediately clear.

Andrzej Wierszyna told reporters the man, who was detained soon after the attack, had a sharp tool with him. The object was later identified as a knife.
Witnesses said several shoppers and a bodyguard attempted to catch the suspect after he started “blindly” stabbing people, the Mirror reported.
The attacker – named only as Konrad K – was eventually tackled to the ground by a shopper before police arrived.
One woman who was attacked died later at a hospital, said Anna Klee, the regional police spokeswoman in Rzeszow.
“He was attacking people from behind, hitting them with the knife,” Klee told PAP news agency.
A breathalyzer test revealed the man was not under the influence of alcohol when the attack occurred, the Daily Mail reported.
The victims were taken to hospitals in Stalowa Wola, Tarnobrzeg and Sandomierz, most with serious wounds, Wierszyna said.
